11,600 m² Indoor FEC Under Construction in Ohio: How Karting Is Becoming the Core of an Entertainment Complex

Construction of Supercharged Entertainment Polaris began on September 2, 2026, in the Polaris area of Columbus, Ohio. The new indoor karting and family entertainment center is scheduled to open in summer 2027.[1][2]

The 125,000-square-foot complex—approximately 11,600 m²—will combine electric karting, team-based challenge rooms, an arcade, VR, a mechanical ride, a restaurant, and event spaces.[1][2]

For Central Asia, the project model is more relevant than the claimed world record: a powerful thrill-based anchor is complemented by offerings that can increase dwell time, average spend, and the number of ways guests can use the venue.

Construction Has Begun, with Opening Planned for 2027

The groundbreaking ceremony took place at 9300 Lyra Drive. The project will occupy a 16-acre site—approximately 6.5 hectares—near other leisure operators in Polaris, including Topgolf and Smash Park.[1]

The operator plans to open the venue in summer 2027.[1][2] Until the building is commissioned, equipment is installed and tested, and permits are secured, this should be treated as a target rather than a guaranteed opening date.

The new venue will be Supercharged Entertainment’s fourth location in the United States and will follow the core model of the company’s existing center in Edison, New Jersey.[1][2]

Karting as a Visual and Commercial Anchor

At Polaris, two multi-level tracks will occupy 80,000 square feet—approximately 7,400 m². They can operate separately or be combined into a single Supertrack with 25 elevation changes.[1][2]

This configuration gives the operator several operating modes. Separate routes are suitable for simultaneous races and different groups, while the combined track can be used as an expanded format and a distinct marketing hook.

The company describes the planned track as the world’s largest indoor multi-level karting venue.[1] There is no independent global registry that confirms this status. UZAMUSE therefore focuses primarily on the project’s verifiable parameters: its area, 25 elevation changes, and reconfigurable layout.

The existing prototype in New Jersey also covers 7,400 m². According to designer 360 Karting, its two routes combine into a 1,035-meter track with capacity for up to 45 karts per session.[3] Track length and throughput figures for the Polaris venue have not yet been officially announced.

Four Additional Product Layers

The first layer is Time Mission. This team-based game features more than 30 rooms where participants choose a route and complete timed physical, intellectual, and game-based challenges.[1][2] The format can accommodate families, groups of friends, and corporate teams without duplicating the karting experience.

The second layer is the arcade and VR. The two-story gaming area is expected to feature around 180 machines, several VR formats, and a large prize center.[1][2] The arcade can fill the time before a race and give guests another reason to stay afterward.

The third layer is the Drop & Twist Tower. This two-story ride will extend through the building, rotating and lowering passengers between levels.[1][2] Beyond generating its own ticket revenue, such an attraction creates conspicuous movement and helps visually unite the large complex.

The fourth layer is the restaurant, bar, and events. The project includes a full F&B offering, areas for birthday parties, corporate programs, and groups, as well as catering.[1] This expands the product from a single race into a program lasting several hours.

An Electric Fleet Requires Engineering Discipline

Supercharged Entertainment says it will use an all-electric kart fleet in a climate-controlled facility.[1] For guests, this means year-round operation and no direct exposure to exhaust from internal combustion engines on the track.

For the operator, an electric fleet does not eliminate operational complexity. The charging infrastructure, peak electrical load, fleet rotation, maintenance area, and spare parts must be calculated in advance during the design stage. Battery safety, barrier systems, inspection protocols, and marshal training also require particular attention.

For Uzbekistan and neighboring markets, the indoor format reduces dependence on heat, cold, precipitation, and dust, but shifts some of the risk to engineering and ongoing operating costs. Concepts should be compared not only by track and kart costs, but also by energy consumption, ventilation, redundancy, technical downtime, and required staffing levels.

What Remains Unknown

The public release does not disclose the construction budget, future ticket prices, attendance forecast, complex capacity, or expected payback period.[1] Nor does it name the equipment suppliers specifically for the Polaris venue.

At this stage, it is therefore possible to assess the concept and the components of the complex, but it is too early to judge its economic performance. The next milestones will be the disclosure of partners, building completion, equipment installation, test runs, the soft opening, and the actual opening.

Supercharged Entertainment Polaris demonstrates an important principle: a thrill attraction can function not as a stand-alone product, but as the core of an entertainment ecosystem.

Central Asian operators do not necessarily need to replicate the 11,600 m² scale. The underlying logic is transferable:

  1. karting creates a compelling reason to visit;
  2. team challenge rooms, the arcade, and VR engage guests between races;
  3. F&B increases dwell time and revenue per visitor;
  4. birthday and corporate packages create new occasions to visit;
  5. a reconfigurable track layout makes it possible to program different experiences without completely rebuilding the venue.

But a broad entertainment mix is no substitute for operational discipline. Before launching an FEC of this kind, operators must calculate guest flows, race scheduling, waiting-area capacity, evacuation, acoustics, ventilation, charging, maintenance, and kitchen operations during peak hours.

The project’s main lesson is not to “build the biggest karting venue,” but to combine several complementary reasons to spend, stay longer, and return. This is the hypothesis worth testing when designing large indoor centers in Tashkent, Samarkand, Almaty, Astana, and other cities across the region.
